Leg Ulcers

【Venous Ulcer Healed in 7 Weeks】

August 10,2020

A male aged 59, with medical history of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, gout and varicose veins, had a venous ulcer developed in the gaiter area of his right leg after an injury. The wound continued to deteriorate after 2 months of conventional treatment. He was then referred to Nu Pro Nurse Centre.

Factors hindering wound healing, such as biofilm, foreign material and viscous exudate over the wound site were removed by Nu Pro wound nurses. Focuses were made to address these factors with professional skills and advanced treatment protocol. Compression Therapy was another key treatment for this patient. Low stretched bandages were applied for gradual compression to effectively increase venous and lymphatic return, hence greatly improving the associated discomfort brought about by venous stasis. In 4 weeks’ time, wound size reduced by 50%; In 7 weeks’ time, the wound healed up satisfactorily.
