【Pemphigoid Lesions Healed in 5 Weeks】

A male aged 70, with medical history of diabetes mellitus and hypertension, was diagnosed with Bullous Pemphigoid, presenting with multiple lesions and serous-filled blisters over the shin. His wound condition deteriorated under conventional treatment. He was referred to Nu Pro Nurse Centre.

Bullous Pemphigoid is an autoimmune disease and commonly affects people older than 60 years. Immune system is confused and forms antibodies directed against the skin, resulting in formation of blisters. Severe itching and blisters appear in most patients. Early in the course of the disease, some patients may have rash that looks similar to hive.

Factors hindering wound healing, such as biofilm over the wound site was identified by Nu Pro wound nurses. Focuses were made to address it with professional skills and advanced treatment protocol. On day 12, amount of biofilm over the wound reduced significantly. In 5 weeks’ time, the wound healed up satisfactorily.
